Inter midfielder Romario IIcardi scored twice as Inter beat Roma 2-1 in Serie A. Inter scored twice on their first goal and then went on to score twice more as Roma were reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute.

The Bianconeri, who had their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League dropped after their 3-1 win at Lazio on Wednesday, have now recovered from their first defeat in six matches, with Inter losing for the second time in as many days.

“It was a really difficult day for us, but we have to keep working and the team will recover,” said Icardio.

“We are going to play in tomorrow’s game and we are going for the points.

It’s a fantastic win for us.”

After scoring the opener for the home side, the Nerazzurri were denied by the hosts goalkeeper, but they held on to win the game.

Icardi took his tally for Inter this season to 17 goals and scored his first Serie A goal in the 83rd minute, when he scored the opener after Roma’s keeper had saved his penalty after the goalmouth appeared to be cleared.

After missing the last two games, the 22-year-old Italian is now on loan at Fiorentina from Roma.

Roma are unbeaten in their last seven matches and sit one point behind Juventus, who have seven games remaining.
